PPG PR 1422 A 2 PART A Technicial Specifications Surface preparation Surfaces should be cleaned with solvent just before applying mastic to primed surfaces. Contaminants such as dirt, grease and/or processing lubricants must be removed prior to sealant application. Appropriate solvents and a new lint-free cloth should be followed by a gradual cleaning procedure (recycled solvents or tissue paper should not be used). Always pour solvent on the cloth to prevent contamination of the solvent source. Wash a small area at a time. It is important to dry the surface with a second clean cloth before the solvent evaporates, to prevent re-deposition of contaminants on the substrate. The substrate composition can vary greatly. This can affect the adhesion of the sealant. It is recommended to determine the adhesion properties to a given surface before applying to production parts or assemblies. Mix according to the proportions specified in the application properties section. Mix Part A and Part B separately to ensure uniformity, then thoroughly mix the entire contents of both parts of the kit, taking care not to leave unmixed areas on the sides or bottom of the mixing bowl. Storage life PR-1422 Class A has a storage life of at least 9 months when stored in original unopened containers at temperatures between 40°F (5°C) and 80°F (27°C).
